Technical Principles
Reverse osmosis seawater desalination membranes represent highly efficient membrane separation technology based on the principle of reverse osmosis. The core function involves separating seawater from its salts through a semi-permeable membrane.
Membrane Structural Characteristics
- Extremely small pore size (approximately 0.0001 micrometres) permits only water molecules to pass through while retaining salts, bacteria, viruses and other impurities
- Primarily composed of polyamide composite membranes with high salt rejection rates (up to 99%+) and excellent corrosion resistance
- Available in standard sizes including 2521, 2540, 4040, and 8040
Operating Process
High pressure (5.5-8 MPa) overcomes seawater osmotic pressure, forcing water molecules to flow against osmotic pressure and producing freshwater, while concentrated brine is retained and discharged.
